Established in 1992, Bolton Community Homes (BCH) is Bolton’s independent Strategic Housing, Regeneration and Service Provider Company limited by guarantee.

It is one of the partners in the Local Strategic Partnership for Bolton (Bolton Vision Partnership).

Registered at Companies House with a Board of Directors, Bolton Community Homes is a wide ranging cross section partnership of Local Authority, the ALMO (Bolton at Home), Registered Social Landlords (RSL’s), Private Landlord Sector, Community and Voluntary Sectors, Customers/Services Users and Developers. It links with the Council Directorate for Development and Regeneration bringing together economic and physical regeneration.

Community Housing Services is the Council’s section that has been placed within the Bolton Community Homes partnership to enable a close and joint working relationship between the partnership and the council, as Community Housing Services has very strong links with both the Development and Regeneration and Adults Services Departments of the Council.

Collectively, individual company members of Bolton Community Homes:

  • Manage and maintain over 25,000 homes
  • Provide support to 7,000 service users in supported and temporary housing units including the receipt of £9.2m per year supporting people grant
  • Directly employ over 1300 people in the Bolton area
  • Lead on the delivery of a wide range of regeneration initiatives

Bolton Community Homes provides a strategic management and consultancy function for all its members including the council, it influences, contributes to and supports corporate planning and area management strategies and designs develops and implements housing led regeneration activities, examples include:

  • New Housing Provision
  • Affordable Housing Provision
  • Development of Specialist Housing Schemes
  • Sustainable Communities
  • Contributes to the production and implementation of strategies

The Bolton community Homes Vision is:

To develop a housing system in Bolton that will help, create sustainable communities and neighbourhoods that work. It will also provide a framework for service excellence and continuous improvement, recognising the value and importance of diversity, choice and opportunity for all.

Bolton Community Homes recognises the central role it must play in developing Bolton’s housing system and ensuring its health and excellent performance and the impact the housing system has on the achievement of sustainable community cohesion and on the delivery of Bolton’ Community Strategy.
