Bolton CVS is an independent charity that links to over 1000 lively local voluntary and community groups. Bolton CVS works to:

  • Promote voluntary action throughout the Borough of Bolton in order to meet the needs of the community;
  • Provide information, advice, training and support to local voluntary and community groups;
  • Assist new voluntary and community groups to set up and support existing groups to develop and expand;
  • Encourage voluntary and community groups to make their voices heard outside their own organisation and provide a channel of communication;
  • Actively engage in partnership working for the benefit of voluntary and community groups and the borough as a whole.

Services based within Bolton CVS include:

  • Funding, Development Support and Grants Administration: provides information through the JUMBO newsletter, one to one help for groups and access to small grants, e.g. Vision grants, Cleaner Greener grants and Breaks for Carers grants.
  • Bolton Community Network – which supports groups to have a voice in the regeneration of their communities; it also supports the Voluntary and Community Sector Forum which elects 2 representatives on to the Vision Partnership.
  • Bolton Volunteer Centre – which supports people to find volunteering opportunities; it also links together organisations who work with volunteers through the Volunteering Forum.
  • Health and Care Together – which supports groups working in health and social care; it also supports the Health and Care Forum which links groups with statutory service providers.
  • Training – A comprehensive training programme and information about other training opportunities.
  • Strategic Involvement in Children’s and Young People’s Services – A new project to provide an effective channel of communication for groups.

Bolton CVS is based in the new landmark building for voluntary and community groups, The Bolton Hub, which provides office accommodation, meeting, training and interview facilities.
