Job Centre Plus
As a member of the Bolton Vision Steering Group, Jobcentre Plus gains a strategic view of partner issues which helps us when making decisions, as well as enabling us to influence partners’ decisions. This helps to meet the needs of Bolton residents as well as achieving Jobcentre Plus priorities.
Jobcentre Plus Greater Manchester East and West district covers an area of some 373 square miles, spanning seven Local Authority Boroughs – Bolton, Bury, Rochdale, Oldham, Tameside, Stockport and Wigan – and is home to our seventeen Jobcentre Plus offices.
Jobcentre Plus provides ‘work for those who can and support for those who cannot’, by:
- Helping disadvantaged people into work, as a route out of poverty;
- Providing financial support as a safety net for people of working age while they are out of work;
- Addressing inequalities of opportunity;
- Protecting the integrity of the benefit system; and Working with employers and partners to address market failure in the labour market.
